At the moment, us two look like the grand finalists (I don't think too many would disagree with that) Wigan would be the only other team who I think could compete, but they have a mountain to climb.



We put two of their tries on plate for them, and one moment from Hardaker in broken field, but besides that, defensively, we looked comfortable against the best attacking side in the competition.



I got no problem with our disallowed try, it went upstairs as no try, and the vid ref was never gonna over-rule, because it was a tight call.



I've enjoyed all three battles we've had with them so far, two well matched teams.

Hopefully next time we have Gareth Ellis, Carlos Tuimavave, Steve Michaels and Chris Green back also. Personally I think you'll win the GF as the distraction of the cup will be huge again for us but would love it if we both made Old Trafford. Would be refreshing for the game IMO.

The annoying thing was that Sneyd got penalised for it later in the game. I believe that was the penalty that Gale kicked the 2.

Can't complain really. Some big wins recently. 3 big mistakes cost us the game. Defence was epic for both teams at times. Not too long ago if we had gone down to 20-4, we'd have given up and Cas would have got 40. The team spirit is excellent again this year.

A really disappointing defeat for me. To score 4 tries to 3 when we gifted them 2 of those and the other came from a really poor last tackle play and to come away with nothing is pretty galling. I thought the defence was excellent. We dealt with their fancy shift plays with ease and I don't remember them creating one real try scoring opportunity all night.



Overall I thought the weather probably did for us more than cas or the ref (who I thought made some poor decisions on both sides). The wet conditions led to us being too conservative with the ball early on which made it easy for cas to defend, plus it made it really hard for the back 3 to really get us on the front foot. Add in the dropped ball for talanoa and I reckon we'd win comfotably in the dry.



Plenty made beforehand about cas needing to beat us to give them belief but I'm not sure that being outscored 4 tries to 3 on their own patch, where 2 of those tries were from basic errors by us, really does that for them. i think we showed yet again we have the beating of them and a bit of composure and ball control in that first half would have seen a comfortable win for us.



Disappointing but encouraging for us.

I agree, a game of 2 halfs. One where we gifted you 20 points and were too conservative with teh ball, and one where the ref gifted you the 2 to win it and we opened your defence 3 times

I can't see Ellis back in, and I think the club know it. He's a great asset off the pitch, but another injury could have long term implications, we missed Tuimavave and Michaels more than Ellis last night, defence wasnt a huge problem.

Could it not be argued we were pretty conservative in the second half? A mentality of, game is just about won we don't need to do anything stupid so shut up shop?

At 20-4 up we didn't really need to try and risk over playing it. Weather wasn't great so it became a bit of play the conditions.

you didn't try anything other than laying on, offside and head high shots all night. The points (other than Hardaker) all came from FC errors. Watch the game back, two poor sides and the best team lost. It happens.

Best team didn't lose. We controlled the game for 65 minutes. I appreciate you didn't play well last night. We probably contained you better then what we did in our previous encounters.

I think radders will be more pleased then Powell after that . I think cas know we have there number and won't want to face us in the play offs . We played really poor but in my eyes should have won the game , we gifted them 12 points . I can't remember them looking dangerous at all during the game or ripping us to bits like they do most teams . Sky was going on constantly about there defence all night , but apart from hardakers try which was fortune from shauls kick we defended really well ourselves . I wouldn't want to avoid cas later on in the year and I don't think there as good as some make out .

Maybe Radders should have attributed the loss to us turning in our worst performance of the season.

Good post, my thoughts to. And pretty much exactly what I said before the game regarding the weather . A few posters thought the wet weather would help in our favour, clueless. Like you say really stopped fonua , tala getting on the front foot

It was but then again over 6500 fans just shelled out for cup semi final tickets that had your name on it lol

We played better in attack, defended better. The difference was we made too many errors with the ball that cost us dearly whereas they didn't. That ultimately overrides everything else.

Haha plus it was re arranged for a friday night, people had already made commiments and couldt go (me) our normal sunday afternoon away day to cas usually brings alot more

Think a lot of cas and Hull fans have missed the point in this game for me. I think both teams on and off the field have massive respect for one and other, that much is obvious. Hull are the only team who have successfully dealt with cas up to now, which considering how dominant we have been deserves a lot of credit.



This was never gonna be a game where you saw cas throwing the ball around and at 100mph. Our game against middling opposition has been "high risk high reward" which simply hasn't worked against Hull.



Neither team will absolutely blow the other away, if we play each other another 10 times, there's only gonna be 1 or 2 scores in it either way.



As such, cas played a far more low risk game last night and for the majority did a very good job. Defended well, and capitalised on opportunities. Hull, lost the game as they didn't perhaps capitalise on the field position they had in the first half. As such the scoreline seemed a little harsh at 20-4.



Whilst I agree that cas weren't at their attacking best, and created very few of their own chances, I think that was more out of respect for a very tough Hull side, and once we got our lead we tried to play more of a percentages game. At 20-4 there was no need to be overly expansive.



That being said, our game management fell apart in the last 15 and credit to Hull for almost fully taking advantage of that.



We didn't learn much last night that we don't know already - we will meet at least once before the season ends, and its gonna be tight either way.

Was it really anything? Connor didnt seem to notice it at all, something of nothing to me, cas could argue connor forearmed the cas player on the ground. Its rugby league at the end of the day
