Seriously if this sport doesn’t get enough stick from the other code we get this.
bbc.in/2zxfKoz
Eloi Pelisser sent home for indiscipline.
Way to go Rugby League.

| Quite apt that someone called Johnny Walker has been reprimanded for drinking
And I'd bet my last 50p that when Brough heard of his punishment, he whinged and whinged and whinged

Thick rugby league players. We are told they are "athletes" but render themselves unfit to board a plane with ale. That's how seriously they take playing for Scotland.

| This has hardly been covered by the press. It is tucked away towards the end of the sports report without any context, eg Danny Brough being Scotland's most significant player of the modern era.
Can you imagine if this was union.
When England players were acting like this in the 2011 world cup it was wall to wall coverage in the TV, radio and broadsheet newspapers. All the old guard players like Guscott and co were coming out to criticise them, Martin Johnson came under so much pressure he was forced out of his job, Lewis Moody quit as captain.
I bet the public at large don't even know Steve McCormack is the coach or who the Scotland captain is, there's been no Scotland greats asked for their opinion, the press just treats this as though RL is a minor sport in Scotland and they are only cannon fodder for their opponents in the World Cup anyway.

Odd that you use Mo Farah as a beacon of being a good boy. ..
Do you know that in a poll on the lets run website 44% of people think he's a drugs cheat. .... almost half. ...
Maybe you could have replaced mo farah with Ben johnson, Marion jones or, Lance Armstrong. .....I'm sure they never got on the lash in an airport.....
Maybe they had to keep a clear head.....
Brough isn't a high profile athlete and doesn't have millions to lose by having a few extra pints on an international assignment he has zero chance of winning.
Being sent home isn't a good look. ....but it won't define his career.
Brough is probably just a northern divvy who got carried away with some pals.
It will hardly make a ripple in the media. And is probably a get out of jail free card for Steve mcormack.

| It's sheer madness. These players don't seem to understand they have completely ruined Scotlands chance of winning the world cup.

| All very amusing commenta I'm sure, but every single player at the world cup is representing the gane first, and the gane certainly doesn't need it.
Brough is a prize idiot who has earned a decent living out of the game - he should be charged by the RFL and scottish RL for bringing the game into disrepute, as should the others.

Not a dig at you, biccy (you're one of the few on here, who's posts I look forward to reading), but it DID raise a ripple. More than a ripple, in fact. It was the second story on the Beeb's sport website, when it broke at dinner time.
As I've said on here COUNTLESS times before, the Beeb only give RL airtime on sports news, when it's a NEGATIVE story.
Typical example
There's a sports desk after the 4 o'clock news on Steve Wright's programme on BBC radio 2. Hardaker''s ban was on there (quite rightly, as it was news), but I never heard any team announcements for the 2 WC games we've already played. The BBC love to kick our game. We NEVER hear positive news.
When there's been a Friday night SL game on Sky, BBC Breakfast will pick the scruffiest try possible to show (begrudgingly). A minute before, they'll have shown a rah-rah game involving one try, and their presenter will make it sound like Gareth Edwards effort for the 1973 Barbarians.
But you were right, biccy. Brough IS a Northern divvy. Didn't Long do something similar, the day after we last beat the Aussies in 2006,
RL players. They're not the brightest, are they?

| Now 11 hours after the story first broke, and it's the third story on the BBC site, behind Chelsea's win, then City's win.
Tucked away?
Not relevant?
Not if the BBC have anything to do with it.

We really need to get over this "chip on shoulder" issue with the BBC. If there is a "problem" then it will need effective leadership from the RFL to court BBC Sport which helpfully has moved slap bang in the middle of the RL Heartlands. We need to stop being a victim and put together a coherent plan to improve the media coverage. However we have to be mindful of the limited appeal of the sport to the general public and set expectations accordingly.

| Well the traitors at the BBC have an agenda against Brexit and against the Conservative party so why wouldn't they have one against rugby league as well. Probably doesn't fit their leftist metropolitan agenda. This story about Brough and his mates being drunk might be fake news.

| Cant see any bias in this. It's not as though they made it up. There was a lot more fuss when that "English' RU centre jumped off the ferry.
Broughs attempts at kicking to touch would suggest he was under the influence during the match.

Rather than policing enhancement drugs...why not just let all sports people use them...

| In their review of the papers on the breakfast show this morning on talksport.. They deceided to talk about it, despite not even mentioning the RL World Cup once previously on that particular show..Alan the plank Brazil then claimed that RL is just a Southern Hemisphere sport!! Joey Barton like him or not then told him he was talking crap...They do spend most of the time on that station sucking up to Man Utd ,and everything to do with them so I suppose they don't have space for much else..
